Launchpad: managed servers and a Claude Code connector

FAQ & Troubleshooting

FAQ & Troubleshooting

Quick answers to the questions we hear most, and fixes for the things that go wrong.

Claude says the connector is unreachable

First check that the Launchpad connector is switched on for the current session in the Claude desktop app. If it is, check that your machine can reach mcp.asklaunchpad.com over HTTPS; corporate proxies that block unknown hosts are the usual cause. Nothing other than outbound HTTPS is required.

Claude says the secret key is malformed or unknown

Keys start with lp_live_. Check for stray whitespace or a missing character when copying. If you created a new key from your dashboard, the old one no longer works; make sure Claude has the new one, especially if you keep it in a file.

The SSH session connects but is refused

If the server was launched moments ago, it may not have finished first-boot configuration; get_provisioning_status reports readiness only once it has. If the session is older than 30 minutes it has expired: request a new one.

SSH doesn't work at all from Claude's environment

Some environments are limited to outbound HTTPS and can't open raw connections. Claude will fall back to deploy_app, which does the server-side work over HTTPS. See Deploying your app.

Can I use Launchpad without Claude Code?

Launchpad is built for Claude Code in the Claude desktop app, and that's what we support. A web dashboard for launching and managing servers is on the roadmap. For anything you can't do yet, email us and we'll do it for you.

Can I run more than one app on a server?

You can, but we don't recommend it. Servers are sized and priced for one app, and deploy_app in particular assumes one app per server. Launch a second server instead.

How do I delete a server?

Ask Claude to terminate it; the terminate_server tool requires an explicit confirmation before it does anything. Export your database first if you need the data.

Something else

Email us. Early crews get a person at mission control, and we'd rather hear about a rough edge than have you work around it.
