Launchpad: managed servers and a Claude Code connector

Add-ons

Fixed IP

A permanent public address for your server that never changes when it restarts. R149 a month each, free with Plus and Pro.

Every server has a public address. On a normal server that address can change when the server is stopped and started. A Fixed IP is a permanent public address that stays with your server, so you can point a domain you manage yourself at it, or add it to another service's allow-list, and it keeps working.

Your asklaunchpad.com address always works and is kept up to date for you, with or without a Fixed IP.

What it costs

  • R149 a month for each Fixed IP, excluding VAT.
  • Free with Plus and Pro. Every Plus and Pro server comes with its own Fixed IP, attached automatically when the server launches. It stays with that package.
  • When you add one, you pay for the rest of the current month straight away (for example, 19 of 30 days), then R149 on the 1st of each month. The charge goes to your saved card, and the Fixed IP is added only if the payment goes through.

Adding and attaching one

Go to Add-ons in your dashboard. The Fixed IP card shows how many you have purchased, how many come included with your packages, how many are allocated to your packages and how many are available to attach.

  1. Click Add new, check what you will be charged, and confirm.
  2. Switch the Fixed IP on next to the server you want it on. You can only switch one on when you have an unused Fixed IP.

You can also ask Claude: "attach a Fixed IP to my server". Claude will tell you what will happen first.

Heads up: attaching a Fixed IP changes the server's public address straight away. Connections to the old address drop for a moment, so update anything that uses it (a domain you manage yourself, a firewall allow-list).

Moving or releasing one

Switch the Fixed IP off next to a server to release it. The server goes back to a normal address that can change, and connections to the Fixed IP address stop working, so update anything that uses it. Usually the server stays online. If AWS does not give it a normal address straight away, the server restarts, which takes a couple of minutes. You keep the Fixed IP, and keep paying for it, so you can attach it to another server.

Removing one

Click Remove on the card to stop paying for one. It keeps working, and is already paid for, until the end of the month, and then it stops being billed. You can only remove a Fixed IP that is not attached to a server, so release it first if it is in use.

Fixed IPs included with a Plus or Pro package cannot be removed or released: they stay with the package.
